Clues to the Relationship between Schizophrenia and Rheumatoid Arthritis

“There is a wealth of genomic data on both schizophrenia and rheumatoid arthritis. Analyzing it jointly with known protein interaction information could provide invaluable clues to the relationship between the diseases and also shed light on their shared roots,” said Madhavi Ganapathiraju faculty member of the Intelligent System Program in a study published in the npj Schizophrenia journal.

Mellon Fellowship

Three ISP students won the Mellon Fellowship for the 2017-2018: 

ISP Faculty awarded funding
  • The project entitled: “We Are Strong! Leveraging Information Technology to Empower Marginalized Communities,” by principal investigator Rosta Farzan, faculty member of the Intelligent System Program, has been awarded funding by the Office of the Provost
  • The NSF awarded Ervin Sejdic, faculty member of the Intelligent System Program, a five-year, $549,139 award to research on the analysis of swallowing disorders
